It all begAn in the mountains.

Hello there! My name is Tank Ojha. I am a geologist. Since 1982, I have worked in the remote Himalayas of Nepal to better understand the relationships between geological processes, time, topography, anthropogenic activities, and the climate. Every year, I spend months in the remote Himalayas collecting scientific data related to the above project.

From Rock science to Food Science

While working in remote mountains for months away from roads and modern civilization it is hard to get the right kind of food to retain stamina and energy. I used to get sick by eating foods prepared by camp workers and local villagers. After so many food poisoning incidents, I decided to cook myself. Since 1985, I started to cook for myself in the field. The first meals were not tasty, but healthy.

Year after year, I have developed my cooking skills. Along the road, I did some research on spices and figured out how to mix spices in the right proportion.  With my strong background in chemistry, I have figured out how to mix those miracle curry ingredients in the right proportion to make healthy curries without tears and burning tongue. Finally, I have invented a variety of tasty and healthy curries.

Bringing the taste of the himalayas to tucson

It was my dream to serve my special healthy meals to the people of Tucson. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford the expensive rent and the extremely high startup expenses. I was also unsure whether my curry recipes would appeal to the American palette.

As an experiment, I opened my first restaurant in Silver city, New Mexico in August 2019. I found an empty fully established restaurant space in Silver city with $ 700/Mo rent. Low rent, kind landlord inspired me to open my lemongrass restaurant there. That was a huge success; people loved my food. I had repeat customers almost every day.

Because of family problems, I was forced to shut down that incredibly successful restaurant in March 2020. However, my success in Silver city inspired me to take a big financial risk and I decided to open Lemongrass restaurant at this location. I am looking forward to serving my delicious, healthy meals to all Tucsonans soon.
